Drummers Jay Boehmer and Charlie Cooley present a unique, dynamic and exciting presentation featuring two drumsets and other percussion instruments. These veteran musicians will perform engaging drumset duets that incorporate and demonstrate the character traits of Cooperation and Responsibility.
Charlie and Jay also facilitate a discussion that asks the questions “What is Rhythm?” and “Where is Rhythm?” (Visual Patterning). The program includes audience participation with an emphasis on teamwork. “We will pique the interest of all your students as our presentation appeals to a variety of learning styles.”
These professional musicians have been presenting high quality performances since 2015. They have performed in schools and communities across the Greater Toronto Area including Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon. The Rhythm Team specializes in “In-School” performances for primary and middle school students. Jay and Charlie have also led workshops with hand drums and bucket drumming for Shaw Percussion, the Rexdale Community Health Centre and Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School (Peel District School Board).

A drummer, composer, and bandleader, Jay has been a part of the Toronto music scene since 1990. He released two albums with his Jay Boehmer Jazz Quartet and their music has been featured on CBC national radio and television. Jay has appeared in over 40 theatre productions across Ontario and continues to perform for various clubs and private events.
One of Canada’s most in-demand drummers, Charlie has performed and recorded with artists such as Leonard Cohen, the Guess Who, and the Blues Brothers. Charlie has been the in-house drummer for some of Canada’s biggest awards shows and is currently a member of the Juno Award winning world-beat jazz ensemble Manteca.
